Biography

Johan was born November 11, 1836. (Note that the birthdate on his gravestone, and in many records, is incorrect.) He was a farmhand in Sweden, before immigrating to the United States in 1855. During the Civil War, he served in Company B of the Third Regiment of the Minnesota Infantry. He lived in Carver County, Minnesota and Lily, South Dakota. He passed away in 1898.
