Hanson, E. Lawrence Dr. E. Lawrence Hanson - Pueblo Chieftain - November 19, 1997 - Dr. E. Lawrence Hanson, 93, passed away Nov. 17, 1997, in Pueblo. He was born Oct. 2, 1904, to Nils Hanson, who was born in Sweden and Natilda Johnson, whose father was a veteran of the Civil War. Dr. Hanson was proud to have grown up on a large pioneer farm in eastern South Dakota. He graduated from Northern State University, then called Northern State Teachers College. He taught school for 10 years. He then graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. His internship and residency were taken at the Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He practiced two years in Fowler before coming to Pueblo in 1942. Several years ago, Dr. Hanson and his wife, Maudean, established a four-year scholarship foundation for graduates of Pueblo city and county high schools who would be attending the University of Southern Colorado or Pueblo Community College. He was happy to live and to see the foundation in operation and to see and meet some of the graduates. One well-known trait of Dr. Hanson's was that he loved everybody. His survivors include his wife, Maudean, and brother, Neil, of the family home in Beulah- and sister, Frances Lohr of Clark, S.D. No viewing or services. Cremation in the Davis Crematory.
